The Rio Rug is hand-woven in Portugal from a combination of New Zealand wool and fine New Zealand wool — a pairing that gives the surface both body and a refined finish. Designed by Gabriel Tan Studio for ORIGIN MADE and woven by Renata Varandas, the rug takes its name from the Portuguese word for river, a reference to the fluid, irregular edge that defines one side of the textile. That organic boundary — where the weave dissolves rather than terminates — distinguishes it from a conventional rug and makes it a considered object in its own right within a well-resolved interior.
