The Koba Coffee & Side Table brings together two crafts that are both on UNESCO’s heritage list. Jean-Marie Massaud designed a hand-carved solid wood base for Zanat and set a mouth-blown glass top into it, made by Poschinger, a German glassmaking family with 450 years of history. The glass sits flush within the carved form, so the table reads as a single sculptural object. There are practical touches too. A rounded rectangular opening carved into the top gives you a natural grip for moving the table. The carved wooden cap unscrews, which means the glass can ship separately and be replaced if it’s ever needed. Used alone or nested as a pair, the tables work beside a sofa, at the end of a bed, or as a small grouping in place of a single coffee table.
